My name is Sophia Hoang and I am the designer behind Imaginative Knits. My aunt taught me how to knit in 2005, and then my mom taught me how to crochet in 2009. They taught me the basics, and I quickly fell in love with knitting (it took me a while longer to enjoy crochet). After joining Ravelry, my crafting skills improved immensely and I started to try out new patterns and techniques.
I started designing knitting patterns back in 2010, with the release of my first pattern, Spearmint the Bunny, in October 2010. I started designing after seeing Susan B. Anderson and Little Cotton Rabbits stuffed animal patterns, but being a secondary school student, I didn't have the money to buy patterns - so I just started to create my own.
Since then, I've ventured into designing sock patterns, and then more recently, crochet doily and coaster patterns. I renewed my interest in crochet in June 2016, when I saw more up-and-coming designers, like Zoya Matyushenko and Grace Fearon, create beautifully textured patterns (both were inspired by Patricia Kristoffersen). I started designing crochet patterns in November 2017, starting with Starburst.
